SHORT
TERM STRESS
|
|
I don't get stress
I just cause it!
|
Short term
stress can be quite useful as it gives you the energy and the
impetus to respond to problems and situations.
When you
are under stress chemical changes take place in your body to enable
you to deal with the challenging events.
- Your
heart rate increases
- Your
blood pressure rises
- Your
breathing becomes faster
- Your
muscles become tense
- Your
pupils dilate
- Your
mouth becomes dry
- Your
blood sugar levels increase
Your
body is primed to run away or stay and face the situation. This
is known as -
FLIGHT |
|
|
or
FIGHT |
|
|
But,
when the situation is over your body returns to its normal state
and there is nothing more to worry about.
