Q:
Sometimes I find that when I am worried I have difficulty breathing.
My friend says this is 'hyperventilation'.
What is this?
A:
Hyperventilation, is a condition which can be brought on when
you have a panic or anxiety attack where your breathing becomes
so shallow and rapid that your body expels too much carbon dioxide.
With practice you can improve your breathing efficiency and by
controlling your breathing, you can avoid hyperventilating during
anxiety, thus helping to reduce your stress.
